OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS - SPRING SHOW: In Plain Sight

Exhibition Dates: May 7 - June 26, 2026

Opening Reception: May 7, 6-8 pm at the Gallery at Havner’s

Submissions Open: Monday, March 30-Friday, April 24, 2026

Havner’s Frame Shop + Gallery invites all local artists to submit artwork for an opportunity to participate in our upcoming Spring show, In Plain Sight. We are looking for a diverse body of artwork in all mediums and styles, as our hope is that this show will be a snapshot of our rich and thriving art community. The gallery will advertise and promote the selected artists for the exhibition and host a formal Opening Reception that will be open to all artists, their friends and family and our Jackson community.

The theme: We often move through the world with our eyes fixed on the horizon, missing the intricate narratives unfolding at our feet. In Plain Sight is an invitation to pause and recalibrate our vision. This exhibition celebrates the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary—the play of light on a cracked sidewalk, the history etched into a discarded object, or the quiet dignity of a daily ritual. We are looking for work that pulls the curtain back on the mundane, challenging the viewer to see the familiar as if for the very first time. What have we been walking past? It’s time to bring the background into focus.

Who Can Participate: All local artists of all skill levels.

Mediums: We are open to any and all mediums- i.e. Painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, digital art, mixed media, site-specific installations, illustration, collage, etc. In other words, all creative offerings are welcome. The more diverse, the better, and we are open to whatever style you choose to harness the dark.

How Are Artists Selected: Havner’s has compiled a jury of artists that will review all submitted work. The jurors will go through each application and weigh each piece as it relates to the show’s theme. The jury will then select pieces that they feel best represent a diverse offering of art for our community.

To submit: Please follow the link to the form attached below. Please be ready to provide an artist bio, (just a few sentences about who you are, what kind of art you specialize in, experience), 3-4 photos of work you wish to submit (it must be work that has been created in the last two years) and artwork information for each piece (i.e. title, medium, dimensions). Please complete the form completely.

Additionally: The entry deadline is April 24, and you will receive communication regarding your art and show selection by April 30 . If you do have pieces selected, they need to be dropped off at Havner’s on the following days: May 1- May 4. All art work not received by 6 pm on May 4 will not show as we will be installing art for the Opening Reception and need ample time to prepare. All 2D entries must be delivered ready to hang with a securely attached wire across the back. For 3D or non-traditional works, please ensure all necessary display hardware or specialized stands are included. This step is essential- we can’t hang/display art safely without these necessary steps. Please feel free to reach out with any questions about this- We are happy to help!

*Photographers: you may need additional time to have photographs printed and to prepare your work for hanging. We get that! We will let you know sooner which pieces have been selected from your body of work so that you have ample time.

If you have questions, please feel free to reach out via email to Trista Havner at trista@havners.com. This show is going to be AMAZING and special and community building and we cannot wait to share In Plain Sight with our community! Havner’s is for Jackson, by Jackson, always Jackson.
